Gum Disease (Periodontitis) is a chronic infection of Gum and Bone caused primarily by various Bacteria. They get organized in a biofilm known as Dental Plaque. It leads to inflammatory destruction of alveolar bone & supporting connective tissues. These are most common in adults with poor oral health.
This can result in cardiovascular diseases.
Periodontitis in pregnant women can lead to Premature Deliveries. The problems can be eliminated by getting proper scaling done.
